About Alexis

Key Experiences

From strategy analyst to operations director - 18 years in Consulting
I studied Social and Political Sciences and Management Studies at Cambridge and was hired as a graduate by Accenture into our Strategy practice. I worked in Strategy as a consultant for 7 years, focused mainly on Communications & Media clients. In 2007 I took a secondment to work internally, which turned into a permanent move. I joined our Corporate Functions team and became the Operations Lead for our Management Consulting practice in the UK. I am now the Director of Business Operations for our Strategy practice across Europe. Passionate about gender equality, I also lead our Accent on Gender Network across the UK.

Current Position

I look after how we run our Strategy business across Europe
As Director of Operations for the Strategy practice, my role involves looking after the running of the business - working with our leadership team to ensure we are bringing value to our clients whilst growing profitably and retaining our best talent. I manage a team of people who support our country leaders in managing their individual practices, freeing them up to focus on clients.
As lead for our Accent on Gender Network across the UK, I focus on our journey to gender parity and fostering an inclusive work environment. Our Network reaches across all of our business, looking at how we attract, retain and progress our female talent whilst promoting equality and engaging our male colleagues in our journey to 50/50.

Top Advice

Do you like the people?
With the rate of change in every industry it has become almost impossible to plan a career long-term, particularly in the professional services and technology space. Who could have predicted "blockchain expert" would be a job? The key thing is not to overwhelm yourself by trying to select a career - or organisation - for life. Opportunities are everywhere! The best thing you can do for yourself is pick an organisation based on its culture, its people. Do you like the people you meet from there? Does the culture of the company sound like somewhere you would want to be? Do the policies of the organisation and its beliefs make you feel like you would feel comfortable there? Choose somewhere to grow your career where you believe you can truly be yourself and authentic.

Greatest Achievement

I combine a demanding European role with my passion for equality
I love my role and the impact I am able to have on the practice, which I do working largely virtually with a global team. That flexibility allows me to also spend time on my passions, particularly leading our Accent on Gender network within the UK. As well as driving the Network, I really enjoy the opportunities I have to spread the word about the work we do to push towards 50/50. I frequently teach on women's development courses, speak at recruitment and orientation events and also externally.
