About Elizabeth

Key Experiences

From studying Criminology to working in Government Security Strategy
Prior to joining Accenture Security as a Strategy and Risk Analyst, I studied Criminology and Criminal Justice at university. As a result of my studies, I was keen to work on projects that aid crime detection and prevention and therefore aligned to the Health and Public Sector. I am now primarily focussed on working with Government and law enforcement clients.

As an analyst within the Accenture Security Strategy and Risk domain, I have the opportunity to work in a variety of areas:
- Providing boards of directors and C-level Executives with Security Advisory services helping them to future-proof their businesses
- Defining Security Strategy and developing Operating Models to help clients implement governance, processes, technologies, metrics, culture change and crisis management
- Providing Security for Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), helping them to understand any risks associated and integrate security capabilities post M&A
- Aligning Governance, Risk and Compliance approaches with regulatory requirements
- Build Business Continuity and Cyber Resilience to prevent business disruption

Current Position

Working at the heart of UK Government
I am currently working with a Government client helping them to define their Security Strategy.

Top Advice

Cyber security needs diversity - do not let your degree limit you!
Cyber security has historically been classified as a job for only 'very technical' people. Of course, there is a place for these people, but there is also a place for those who are less technical (I studied a humanity degree). Cyber security is about people, pyschology and business just as much as it's about technology - so do not let your degree stop you from applying!

Greatest Achievement

Influencing UK Government's Diversity & Inclusion recruitment drive
Due to the nature of the project I'm on, I am lucky to have exposure to a number of different Government clients and departments. As a result of this, and the fact that I am a young woman in Security myself, I was given the opportunity to help with their Inclusion and Diversity drive within Government. Cyber security requires a diverse workforce so it was great to be able to voice my opinion and help be part of a change within UK Government.
