Key Experiences

Fascination with people took me from an MSc Psychology to an HR career
Joining Accenture was the best career decision I have made. I wanted to work for a dynamic international organisation and one where I, in my capacity as HR, would be able to make a difference. It has proved to be just that many times over.

There are loads of opportunities here, you have to willing to seize them when they arise, then they can take you to all sorts of interesting places. I was offered a project role a few years ago that I felt was a bit of a risk because it veered from the core HR path but it proved to be a great decision. It was a role that stretched and challenged me and gave me opportunities to work with teams across the globe. It was a risk that paid off for me and I am really grateful for the learning experience and exposure it gave me.

Deciding to work flexibly as part of a job share has also been a great decision for me personally. It has allowed me to have a stimulating interesting career alongside spending the time I want with my two young sons.

Current Position

HR Business Partner for Resources UK & Ireland Client Service Group
I drive the design and delivery of Accenture's Talent Strategy and align it to the unique needs of my business group and their talent objectives. I am accountable for guiding and delivering HR operational metrics. I am a trusted advisor, providing coaching to my leadership team on people issues such as career planning, leadership development and how to foster an employee experience driven culture. I partner with centres of excellence to ensure relevancy of HR programs and initiatives and facilitate implementation by providing key insights from my business group.

Main Motivations

Working directly with Accenture's senior leaders on their people needs
The position is a true HR partner role. To be successful you have to forge relationships with the most senior people in Accenture. It is incredibly rewarding to gain a position of trust and be able to see your advice, expertise and guidance have a wide impact on the employee career experience in an organisation of this size. I personally much prefer this role to operational HR roles as it requires business acumen and strategic intent and is therefore more stimulating and dynamic in nature. No day is the same, every challenge is different.

Top Advice

Seize every opportunity and be true to yourself
There are loads of exciting roles, projects and opportunities at Accenture. There is always a new challenge round the corner. You have to be prepared to seize them and take action. You are the captain of your career here and proactivity is key.

I would say though, that it is also important to know what is right for you and what you want. I have put my hand up for many different assignments and have relished the chances I have been given to do something different. There have also been times however when a new opportunity hasn't been right for me. As someone who works flexibly and as part of a job share, I am juggling a career and a busy home life. I am proud of this and comfortable knowing that if I don't go for something today, there will be other opportunities tomorrow.

Greatest Achievement

Gaining a place on Accenture's Leadership Excellence Program
I have always felt valued at Accenture, never more so than when you can see how much they invest in their world class training programs. The vast majority of training offerings are superlative and are not selective.This particular course was a really special achievement for me however as it did involve a rigorous application process. It was an opportunity to travel and to meet senior leaders from all over the globe and to work with teams in multiple geographies. I was so proud to be part of this and love that it is something Accenture offer their HR professionals.
